Exhibition Title Wall Design
Milwaukee Art Museum | Milwaukee, WI | USA
The artists of the post-minimal period were attempting to develop and go beyond the aesthetic of Minimalism. Post-minimalist artworks are usually everyday objects, they use simple materials, and sometimes take on a "pure", formalistic aesthetic. There was also an exploration of using materials in different ways and sometimes hand-made artworks.
Instead of using standard vinyl lettering for the title wall design, a more hand-made and unorthodox approach was used to create the letter forms. A hand-held Dremel tool was used to sand down through the many layers of paint on the wall, exposing the different colors below that had been painted over and over with each changing exhibition.
